On Thursday, May 28th, The Saskatchewan Walleye Trail held a media day at Regina Beach, prior to the Regina Beach tournament.  The purpose of the event was to take media celebrities fishing for the day to help raise awareness of the Saskatchewan Walleye Trail and the sport of tournament fishing.
The days fishing was conducted as a mini tournament with media members guided by SWT anglers.  The event was won by Jason Matity, guided by Darren and Vikki Zeller.  Jason was awarded $1000.00 from the SWT to be donated to a charity of his choice.  Jason elected to donate $500.00 to the Humane Society and $500.00 to the Canadian Diabetes Society.

Ron Petrie of the Regina Leader Post was one of the media celebrities and wrote an article on the event which was printed in the June 1st, 2009 addition of the Leader post.  The event also received air time on CTV.
